The company said in a blog post that Google is introducing custom backgrounds for the Meet Video conferencing platform. If you use Meet in Google’s Chrome browser, you can access the feature on Chrome OS, Windows, Mac laptops, and desktops. Google says this feature is coming to mobile devices soon.
You do not need a browser extension to activate custom backgrounds; You can add a background image from your own photo gallery or from an image library provided by Google that includes landscapes, abstract art, and (for some reason) offices.
It may take up to a week for all Google Meet users to access the new custom background option, the company says.
